Meet Jim Shaw
Jim grew up in Larchmont, New York, and spent summers at camp near Kent, CT. After college, he was a Naval Officer (Surface Warfare) for four years. He attended post-graduate school in Massachusetts on the GI bill. After a very successful career in San Diego, California, he was fortunate enough to move his family to Warren, Connecticut in 2008. His wife Karen runs a very successful antique store in Kent called Rolling River Antiques, and their son Mike is a high school student at Wamogo High School in Bantam.

Jim has served as a volunteer Assistant Ambulance Chief for the Warren Fire Company, and is an EMT and advanced interior Firefighter. He has also served occasionally as a volunteer attorney for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He has hiked the AT throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic states. He enjoys hiking, golfing, sailing, competitive bicycling, kayaking, and rock climbing.
Meet Karen Shaw
Karen is one of four daughters of a Navy family – she mostly grew up in San Diego. Her dad was the captain of several Navy ships. She graduated from UCLA, and was an elementary school teacher in San Diego for twenty years. She is a tri-athelete – biking, swimming, and running, and has competed in events as far away as Ireland. She lives with Jim in a converted 1791 barn in Warren, and their son Mike is headed off to college next year. Karen can usually be found at her Rolling River Antique Store in Kent, Connecticut.
